Narcissus' Watercolor Art
As watercolorist he has intuited the malleability of solid water. “Light is always punctual” says Narcissus, while showing his watercolor drawings.
In the pictorial adventures of the archetypes, the human forms that live in the soul, the figure is transformed into the symbol of a psychic event that seems magical, evoking what appears to be inexplicable in life.
Beginning in the early 1980s this series continues to this day as work in progress. The discovery of a Roman shipwreck in the waters of Riace, containing Greek bronzes exhibited in Florence in 1981, plunged Narcissus into a meditation which continues to move him powerfully.
Sed quid sentiat, non videtis. Negare non possum. Aliter enim explicari, quod quaeritur, non potest. Id est enim, de quo quaerimus.
The Prisoner series, a dramatization of human darkness, of one’s isolation or intense metamorphosis, renders poetic what is a dark, solitary and tortuous beauty radiating from a most abysmal intimacy, from the basement of the soul, as Bachelard would say.
