When Narcissus discovered glass he discovered himself.
What impressed him about the glass was the immense potential to innovate. Historically glass had been used primarily for decoration or in traditional religious settings, but Narcissus saw in the material a chance for personal expression. With new and experimental techniques he has taken imagery in glass to uncharted territory.
Light is used everywhere in our world, natural or artificial, on screens all around urban environments. But for Narcissus the perfect painting today could only be achieved with glass because the image becomes one with light, the very essence of life.
